big numbers

The Sheffield College created around 35,000 qualifications in the last academic year, ranging from pre-entry level (very basic, e.g. the first qualification for English for Speakers of Other Languages - ESOL), through to foundation degrees. All are equally important, but it doesn't half create a mammoth filing job! Our office has around 60metres of shelves for filing the paperwork - there is at least 1 lever-arch file for each qual offered in the college!

Sounds about right - I'm doing similar work in another college but more at the front end it seems (enrolling, as opposed to final results) and the application forms have least 40 metres worth of forms. Then again, it could be more 'cos ours needs a hefty stir of bilinguallism (working in Wales) ;)
